  1. Apparently I came in 3rd. I deleted the IM, so not sure the details. Pretty sure anything in this format is a scam.

I received a text supposably from NETFLIX, informing me that my account had been suspended due to a declined payment and further prompting me to edit my account info in order to prevent my account from being permanently closed. When following the provided link, it took me to what appeared to be a legitimate ’NETFLIX’ site asking me to update my payment information and then upon completion, immediately took me to a page asking ‘which magazine/reading material’ best for my interests. At this point, I realized that I’d been scammed and so I directly logged into my online bank account to confirm either a most recent Netflix payment or ‘payment declined’ note...at which point I noticed that a $1.00 charge had been taken from my checking account. Unfortunately I had to close out my debit card and order a new one.
$1.00 may not be much of a concern. However, $1.00 times how ever many people fall for the scam as I did can add up and the hassle of having to close out my card, wait up to 10 days for a new one and then go through and edit all of my active accounts, is an inconvenience that most of us would wish to avoid— so, please check the validity before following any links sent through a text.
