It is always a matter of discussion that whether coffee is beneficial or harmful for our health. But several researches made by various sources have proven that consumption of coffee has more advantages than disadvantages in our health.

Health benefits of coffee drinking:

It is packed with many nutrition factors which can be beneficial to our health. Coffee is rich with antioxidant components which help in prevention and reduction of many diseases i.e. reduce the risk of depression, helps in mood swing, increase the metabolism as well as physical performance of the body, lower the risk of stroke or heart disease, prevent liver disease like liver cancer and cirrhosis, reduce the risk of prostate cancer, endometrial cancer, skin cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer, Dementia or Parkinson’s disease, prevent melanoma disease, prevent retinal damage caused by oxidative stress, lower risk of multiple sclerosis (protect against development or reoccurrence of MS), increase the brain functions, helps in burning fat and losing weight, prevent cavities in the teeth, reduce the tiredness and help to be more focused and alert, strong DNA integrity, prevent periodontal disease, etc. Research also shows that coffee longer the life as it lowers the risk of premature death.

Side effects of coffee consumption:

Coffee also has some disadvantages over our health. Due to caffeine, coffee has some health issues as well i.e. increase in cholesterol level, increase the risk of heart disease in genetic mutation cases, increases anxiety level and sleeping disorders (in some cases), insomnia, restlessness. Impure coffee is bad for health as it may cause headache or increase your mood swing or other sickness due to toxic in it.

So, it is better to drink coffee or not?

Regular coffee or filtered coffee with no added sugar or any sweetener or creamer (because those add fat and calories in your coffee consumption) has more health benefits than decaffeinated coffee which is a processed coffee by extracting caffeine from the coffee beans with the help of solvents. And this type of coffee poses higher risk of cholesterol level.

Moderate level of drinking pure coffee (around 3 to 4 cups a day) is beneficial for our health. But people with some health issues like heart diseases, high cholesterol level, high blood pressure, insomnia, anxiety, low metabolism level, pregnant women or children shall avoid drinking coffee in various aspects.
